Mark Twain Saloon open despite fire

(April 12, 2008) - The bar and part of the casino are still open, with two-thirds of the slot machines are working after a small fire interrupted business at the Mark Twain Saloon about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The fire was was extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported.

According to Storey County Fire Dept. officials, the fire apparently began in a breaker box.

Some of the slot machines were disabled, but there is no official damage estimate. The saloon closed for awhile but reopened by late afternoon.

Some electrical circuits would be down for awhile, according to a Mark Twain employee, pending inspection by Sierra Pacific Power Co. and county officials.
